Earlier today, Permanent Representative of Indonesia to ASEAN and 2023’s Chair of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR), M.I. Derry Aman, handed over the chairmanship gavel to Permanent Representative of Lao PDR to ASEAN and incoming CPR Chair for 2024, Bovonethat Douangchak. This handover ceremony symbolises and celebrates the conclusion of Indonesia’s CPR chairmanship this year, and welcomes Lao PDR’s CPR chairmanship, which officially begin on 1st January next year.

The handing over of CPR chairmanship gavel is accompanied by the handing over of the CPR whip, a sentimental anecdote shared among the CPR to encourage the cooperative spirit among ASEAN Member States. The ceremony also celebrated the handing over of the CPR Working Group chairmanship from First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Indonesia to ASEAN Dira Tiarasari Fabrian to Deputy Permanent Representative of Lao PDR to ASEAN Kongsada Detvongsone.
