- The Seventh Meeting of ASEAN and India Tourism Ministers was held on 18 January 2019 in Ha Long City, Viet Nam in conjunction with the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2019. The Meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Viet Nam, and H.E. Mr. Alphons Joseph Kannanthanam, Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge) of India.
- The Ministers were pleased to note the strengthened tourism performance of ASEAN and India in 2018. The preliminary number shows there were 139.5 million tourist arrivals to ASEAN and India in 2018, an increase of 7.4 per cent as compared to the previous year.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. It comprises the ASEAN Community Vision 2025, the ASEAN Political-Security Community Blueprint 2025, the ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint 2025 and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Blueprint 2025
