1. The Third AEM Troika Open-ended Dialogue with Switzerland was held on 19 September 2024. The Third AEM Troika Open-ended Dialogue was co-chaired by H.E. Malaithong KOMMASITH, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Lao PDR, and H.E. State Secretary Helene Budliger Artieda, Director of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) of Switzerland. The Meeting also welcomed the participation of H.E. Filipus Nino Pereira, Minister of Commerce and Industry, the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste as an observer.
2. The Meeting noted, according to ASEAN’s preliminary statistics, the total value of two-way merchandise trade between ASEAN and Switzerland which amounted to USD 28.5 billion in 2023. The Meeting further noted that the total foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow from Switzerland to ASEAN in 2023 reached USD 5.2 billion, which placed Switzerland as ASEAN’s 9 largest source of FDI in 2023.
