1. The Ninth ASEAN-China Ministerial Meeting on Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Cooperation was held on 13 November 2025 in Chongqing, China. Representatives from ASEAN Member States, China, and the ASEAN Secretariat attended the meeting. The Meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Sun Meijun, Minister of the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, and H.E. Michael J. Garcia, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Agriculture of the Republic of the Philippines. H.E. Satvinder Singh, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, delivered a speech via video.
2. The Meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both sides to further deepen practical cooperation under the ASEAN-China Joint Statement on Strengthening Common and Sustainable Development, adopted at the 25^th ASEAN-China Summit held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in 2022. The Meeting emphasized the importance of continued collaboration on Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) matters to ensure food safety, plant and animal health in the region.
