Decree of the Prime Minister

On adoption of the transfer of 426 products, together with its tariff

reduction schedule, from the Temporary Exclusion List (TL) into the

Inclusion List (IL) of the CEPT Scheme for AFTA

–      Pursuant to the Government Law of the Lao PDR;

–      Pursuant to the economic agreements of ASEAN, the commitments and obligations of ASEAN member countries on the implementation of the Common Effective Preferential Tariff (CEPT) for AFTA;

–      Pursuant to the proposal of the Minister of Finance No. 1056/MF, dated 12 July 2000;

–      Pursuant to the decision made by the Government of the Lao PDR on 18 July 2000.

The Prime Minister of the Lao PDR has decreed:

Article 1:         Adopting the transfer of 426 tariff lines and their tariff reduction schedule from the Temporary Exclusion List (TL) into the Inclusion List (IL) of the CEPT Scheme for AFTA, and the preferential treatments under the CEPT Agreement are automatically given to these products as well. The implementation will start from 01 January 2001 to 01 January 2008.

Article 2:         Mandating      the Minister of Finance to issue instructions for the implementation of this Decree in consistency with agreements and regulations of ASEAN on the CEPT Scheme for AFTA.

Article 3:    Notifying the Ministers, Vice Ministers, Presidents of committees and organizations, the Major of Vientiane Municipality, Governors of the provinces and the Special Zone and other agencies concerned to implement this Decree strictly.

Article 4:         This Decree enters into effect from 1 January 2001 to 1 January 2008
