H.E. Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary-General of ASEAN, received Letter of Credentials from H.E. Mr. Ahmed Alkwesny, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to ASEAN.

Ambassador Alkwesny expressed his gratitude to ASEAN for approving his accreditation and committed himself to work closer with the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) and the ASEAN Secretariat to explore concrete cooperation between Egypt and ASEAN. He suggested some areas of cooperation with ASEAN including scholar exchange, media exchange to raise the awareness—of both Africa in ASEAN as well as ASEAN in Africa. He informed Dr Surin that Egypt can help play the role of bridging relations both economically and politically between ASEAN and Africa.
