Saudi Arabia signs instrument of accession to Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia

ASEAN Foreign Ministers and Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn witnessed the signing of the Instrument of Accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the sidelines of the 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings in Jakarta today. The accession by Saudi Arabia brings the number of High Contracting Parties to the TAC to 51. The signing ceremony reflects the growing importance that external partners accord to ASEAN, including their commitment to adhere to ASEAN’s key principles and values as enshrined in the TAC.
