Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Saeed Khatibzadeh, on the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings, in Manila, the Philippines.

Dr. Kao Kim Hourn welcomed Iran’s continued engagement with ASEAN, including through its support for the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC). Both sides discussed issues of mutual interest and concern. Dr. Khatibzadeh reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to promoting peace, stability, and dialogue in the region.
