Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn met with President of the National Parliament and the Head of the Parliamentary Benches Maria Fernanda Lay, today. SG Dr Kao expressed his readiness to work together with Timor-Leste in preparing for its full membership in ASEAN, including in fulfilling its capacity building needs. The Secretary-General of ASEAN further expressed his confidence in the mutual benefit which will be brought to ASEAN and Timor-Leste once it becomes a full member of ASEAN. Furthermore, SG Dr Kao encouraged the National Parliament to provide its full legislative support to Timor-Leste’s efforts in this important journey.
