Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today met with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Daren Tang, at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat. They discussed ways for WIPO to support the innovation infrastructure in ASEAN, including through the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between ASEAN and WIPO which focuses on cooperation in four specific areas, namely supporting ASEAN micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and startups in their use of IP in intra-regional trade; leveraging on digital technologies for business success; unlocking the use of IP and intangible assets to secure monetization; and financing and supporting the creative industries of ASEAN.
