At the invitation of the Government of Hong Kong SAR, China, the Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn will pay a working visit to Hong Kong SAR on 12-14 September. During the visit, Dr Kao will pay a courtesy call on the Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR John KC Lee, deliver an address to the 8th Belt and Road Summit, and give a public lecture at the University of Hong Kong. Dr Kao will also meet with several Secretaries to discuss issues related to finance, education, culture, sports, and tourism sectors to help strengthen ASEAN-Hong Kong SAR, China cooperation. Dr Kao is also scheduled to meet with Consuls-General of the ASEAN Member States in Hong Kong.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. ASEAN organs always strive to achieve ASEAN’s goals and objectives, the Secretary-General of ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat shall be functioned as coordinating Secretariat to help facilitate effective decision-making withing and amongst ASEAN bodies. In addition, each Member State shall appoint a Permanent Representative to liaise with Secretary-General of ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat
