At the invitation of the Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) Dr Theresa Mundita Lim as well as the President of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) Benedicta Du-Baladad, the Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn will conduct a working visit to the Philippines on 10-12 September. During his visit, Dr Kao will attend the 18th founding anniversary of the ACB and the ceremonial tree planting activity. Dr Kao will also deliver a keynote speech at the 21st International CEO Conference of the MAP. Dr Kao is also expected to pay courtesy calls on high-level government officials as well as the Secretaries responsible for the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council, ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Council, and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council of the Philippines.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
