At the invitation of the Government of Japan, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, will participate in the 2nd ASEAN-Japan Economic Co-Creation Forum and Related Events in Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan, on 18 to 20 December 2024.
Seizing the opportunity of his stay in Japan, Dr. Kao will be meeting with key stakeholders, including, but not limited to, high-ranking Japanese Government officials, business community, private sector representatives, as well as academia. In addition, Dr. Kao will also engage with the ASEAN Committee in Tokyo and deliver remarks on “Is ASEAN Still Relevant Today?” at the Centre for Southeast Asian Studies, at Kyoto University. As part of his commitments to promoting ASEAN’s visibility and public diplomacy as well as to conveying ASEAN’s narratives to the world, Dr. Kao will also speak to Japan-based media outlets during his visit to Japan this time.
Dr. Kao’s visit will further contribute to the strengthening of ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, building on the success of the Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation that was held in Tokyo, Japan, in December 2023.
