HA NOI, 25 October 2017 – The ASEAN Secretariat in collaboration with the ASEAN Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam convened a project proposal development training in Ha Noi on 24-25 October. The training aimed to enhance capacity of the project proponents in Viet Nam in developing quality regional project proposal, project implementation and monitoring as well as completion reporting.
The training highlighted the need to address the lack of awareness among potential proponents in Viet Nam particularly on the available resources, how to access it, and guidelines on preparing and submitting proposals using the prescribed ASEAN project templates. It also brought to fore the need for networking and coordination among prospective proponents and contact persons at both regional and national levels.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Vu Ho, the Director General of the ASEAN Department of the MOFA of Viet Nam mentioned that the increased number of proposals submitted by Viet Nam as an expected result of the training will increase utilization of available resources by Vietnamese proponents and contribute to its prosperity in the long run. While developing project proposals, he encouraged participants to think as ASEAN citizens which will help them produce regionally-oriented proposals.
Eighty government officials from various line ministries as well as provincial delegates, participated and completed the training. It was funded under the ASEAN Development Fund, which is a common pool of financial resources to support implementation of strategic projects to support achievement of ASEAN’s vision including the goals and objectives under the ASEAN 2025: Forging Ahead Together, the Initiative for ASEAN Integration Work Plan III and the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2.
